The investment company Standard Life owned a large number of shopping centres throughout the UK which needed to re-develop their website presence. Individual centres needed to be able to content manage their own websites through a central Standard Life-branded platform. Each centre had to have its own unique design within this framework.
We developed a customised version of our content management system (CMS) which enabled a number of specific functionality requirements to be developed. By providing functionality which was shared across this portfolio of sites, the group benefited from economy of scale. One example was generic visitor registration functionality (with variations of simplicity and complexity at database level) which generated visitor data on shopping centre visits and preferences. We also produced shared functionality to enable the centres to list their retailers and then allocate shopping categories to them, underpinning a helpful visitor search facility. We then worked with a number of shopping centres on their individual site designs.
Websites for a number of shopping centres were designed, prepared and launched. Following the success of this initial group, we supported a total of nine centres over several years.
