Jan’s first career was in public relations: during a 25-year period she advised senior leaders at some of the world’s foremost technology brands including Dell, Oracle and Philips on strategic communications, and oversaw their long-term reputational, product and service PR programmes in the UK.
Jan co-founded Siteset in 1996 as an offshoot of her independent PR consultancy, which counted as its clients many pioneering internet startups. She had seen the potential of the web for business when she led the European PR launch and strategic communications programme for Netscape (now Firefox), the world’s first internet browser.
Siteset was a boutique web agency until the early 2000s, when the company began to grow steadily, with Jan acting as Managing Director from 2005, having overseen the merger of her PR firm with a competitor and moved to Siteset full time.
She stepped back to become Executive Chairwoman in 2013 and now uses her 35 years of experience as a Board Director to help steer the company’s continuing growth and development.
